Sony’s Kazuo Hirai has a lot of ideas about what he would do if it had an iTunes-like online aggregate. The company wouldn’t just sell digital music, movies and books for Sony products, said Hirai, gubernatorial vice-president for networked products and services. It would also try to connect users with each other.

Hirai, who unveiled plans for the putting into play—tentatively called Sony Online Service—on Nov. 19 , said he hopes for a deliver next year. “Earlier in the year would be a lot more preferable,” he said, during an interview at Sony headquarters in Tokyo.

While Body politic-owned enterprises (SOE) are blamed for monopolizing industries such as resources and banking, the digital camera industry is looking for SOEs to collide with global electronics giants.

"I hope that SOEs will participate in the digital camera and camcorder industry, as we are the only Chinese house competing with Japanese and South Korean electronics giants in the domestic and global markets," said Feng Jun, CEO and break down of Aigo, a Chinese consumer electronics producer, at an entrepreneur forum held by Sohu.com in Beijing on Thursday.

Feng said more than three State-owned companies had exempt from the digital camera industry due to fierce competition from foreign brands such as Sony, Cannon and Samsung since 1999, leaving Aigo struggling to fight.

Founder and Tsinghua Unisplendour stopped releasing new digital cameras in 2004, while Lenovo left the digital camera shop in 2007, according to a report from Southern Metropolis Daily.
